Sumaúma is a journal made directly from the heart of the Amazon rainforest, devoted to telling the stories of the forests and their people.

The editorial team of Sumaúma invited the Bijari studio to create a visual identity that reflected the stories they wanted to share, presenting the Amazon as a place from which life emanates in a plural and complex way, from struggle to hope.

Visual Identity

Sumaúma is an imponent tree with large and profound roots, the sapopembas. These roots, together with indigenous patterns, became the main inspiration for the bold logo. The palette invokes the colors of the Amazon, while the letter width variations give life to the logo, a living being like the forest. The widening of the letters becomes a window to this diverse world, spreading stories before untold.

Template Platform and Motion

The letters were programmed using Blender and Geometry Nodes, helping us to easily create logo variations and animations only by changing a few parameters.
Later, p5js was used to build a web application to help create social media posts, allowing Sumaúma's social media team to easily and consistently create pieces that follows the visual identity.
